"Culture Shock!"
e2000 have opened up a call for partnership in a new cultural project "Culture Shock!" that will take place in 2006/7.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - Margaret Mead (1901 – 1978)
“Culture Shock” is an audiovisual arts project with the aims of developing young international artists and highlighting inspiring examples of change makers across Europe and the wider world. The year long project will involve collaboration between established professional artists and aspiring young amateurs with less opportunities in trans-national co-operation with colleagues from other countries. The outcome will be a number of arts installations depicting the artist’s impressions of change making in their country to create a travelling exhibition that will be enjoyed internationally.

“If you want to have a follow up in terms of younger people getting into the traditional arts, you should look for art that is close to the young people. So you shouldn’t bring them to your type of art, but you should bring their type of art into the programme. This is I think very fundamental…” - Jacques Walage – Mayor of Groningen, Netherlands
The project will focus on the following themes:
- Citizens making change, past and present (locally, nationally, internationally)
- Developing young artists with less opportunities
- Inspiration and innovation
- Traditional and Modern – A mix of traditional and modern digital mediums
- Trans-national Co-operation
